Andrew Ferrao

Composer | Producer | Performer | Teacher

"To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist," said Robert Schumann, the pianist, and composer. A quote Andrew follows faithfully as an artist.

One of the most distinguished keyboard players in the circuit, Andrew is known for his unique playing style. His introduction to the world of music was at the age of thirteen when he would accompany and assist his physically challenged musician neighbor for gigs. The neighbor asked him if he would like to try playing the keyboards, and very soon Andrew was performing alongside senior musicians at gigs.

Then came a time when Andrew had to give it all up and take up a job onboard a ship according to his father’s wishes. He barely lasted a week and made his way back home to pursue music as a full-time career.

Some of the first well-known musicians Andrew performed with are Anu Malik and Chris Perry. Soon he moved to Delhi and performed with Rabbi Shergill. While in Delhi Andrew began composing and producing music. Moving to Mumbai he began performing with Neeraj Shridhar, Natali Di Luccio, Leslie Lewis, Siddharth Mahadevan, Shruti Pathak, Pritam, and many others.

Now back in Goa, he writes songs on social activism and produces music for various artists. He also passes on the knowledge he has gained over the years by teaching music to the young and enthusiastic. True to his motto, Andrew continues to send light to the hearts of many, through his music.
